Happy new year to all. Here’s to a new year (and decade) of peace, joy, and economic recovery.

If I’m lucky, someone who I’ll intersect with will not only feel that, but will also decide to make, a connection with me that’s more personal, and even generative, where projects merge and take new shapes.

Birds are all around us. When you’re bored or troubled, take a break and tune in. You’ll be amazed at what you hear. And if you tune in enough, you’ll be even more amazed at the subtle changes you begin to learn.

Before I started the birdhouse project I really had no conscious interest in the subtle sounds and behaviors of our feathered friends. Since, however, I have become somewhat of a casual birder.

I live in Berkeley but I was in Vietnam when the tsunami hit in December 2004. I stayed glued to the television the rest of the trip–holed up in my hotel room in a state of shock.
